Mission Accomplished

Well I guess Kettle Moraine overall was a success. I finished under 24 hours around 23:37 and that was my main goal. I will post a full race report soon. Thanks to my wonderful wife and kids for crewing for me all day and to my good friend Rick Mayo for spending 16 hours driving this weekend to pace for me. This was definitely the most difficult run I have done with the most lows I have ever had to push through.

I had a complete breakdown at 55 miles and was an absolute wreck. I was behind my 24 hour pace from about 25 miles in but some how managed to still get in under 24hrs. I had to make myself puke at 82 miles and was having a difficult time keeping my eyes open and staying on the trail. The aid stations were great as well as the volunteers. It was a joy to run on such a beautiful course but it sucked being soaked for 98 miles and runnning in 80 degree temps with the extreme humidity. I enjoyed spening time with fellow trail nerd Kyle Amos who finished in 3rd place overall and still made it out to see me finish at 5:30am.

We are heading home tomorrow. I'll try to get a report together soon.

What's Up, I talked to Kyle this morning so I already knew you made it in under 24 before I read this post. Good Job Man! It sounds like you had to fight through a real rough patch... or two or three. See you soon. Congrats on accomplishing your goal. That has to feel pretty nice. The whole Trail Nerd nation is proud. We had another muddy jungle run at Wyco this morning. The stinging nettles are getting TALL!

Mission Accomplished indeed! Congratulations!!! Here's hoping your lowest low will never be disproportionate to your highest high! You're an inspiration to us all. Keep living the example!

Congrats Gabe on a strong finish! It was great running with you; it is something I'll never forget! I'm sure it was the first of many runs together (actually it wasn't the first technically; Berryman '06 was).
Looking forward to seeing you again soon,
Carey

There you go man. Good job! Your well on your way. I admire your ability to push through when your down and out. You are definately a hell of a lot tougher than myself. With your mental tenacity I love to see what you could do on Calebs legs. Again great finish buddy.
